Outlaw football finishes season

The Marlow Outlaw
football team only had one
more obstacle ahead of them
in the semifinals, which was
the Heritage Hall Chargers.
The game took place on
Friday, Nov. 24, on neutral
grounds in Newcastle,
Oklahoma.
The Outlaws won the coin
toss and held the Chargers
on defense where Marlow
quickly took the lead with a
score of 7-0.
Marlow held the Chargers

offense once again and re-
sponded with a 50 yard run

touchdown by junior Jona-
than Brite.

“Coach Weber at the start
of the game said he wanted
to be that guy that makes big
plays, and God blessed me

with the ability to get in the
end zone,” Brite said.
In the second half, Marlow
got the ball but was unable to
get the first down, allowing
the Chargers to tie up the
game with a score of 14- 14.
In the third quarter, senior
Cade Gilbert, the quarterback
for Marlow, was injured and
the Chargers scored another
touchdown, getting their first
lead with a score of 21-14.
However, Marlow’s
defense recovered a fumble
and returned it for a 70 yard
run, making the new total 28-
21.

The Outlaws caused an-
other fumble, where they re-
turned to offense with Gilbert

back leading them once again.
With two minutes left on
the clock, Marlow scored a
touchdown and received the
2 point conversion, leading

with a score of 29 -28.
This touchdown was
scored thanks to the offensive
leadership from Gilbert.
“We, as a team, went for

the two point conversion be-
cause we had to do what was

necessary to win the game,”
said Gilbert.
With less than two minutes
on the clock, the Chargers
marched down the field with
several first downs and kicked
a field goal to win the game.
The game ended with a
score of 31- 29 allowing the
Chargers to advance to the 3A
State Championship game.
Despite their loss in the
semifinals, the Outlaws were
led by a vast majority of

leaders and were able to ac-
complish many of their goals

throughout the season.
