The Marlow Outlaw and Lady Outlaw Golf Teams finished off their successful seasons in the beginning of May at the State Tournament.

The 3A Girls State Tournament was held May 5-6 at the Lake Murray State Golf Course in Ardmore.

The Lady Outlaws ended the season as State Academic Champions, along with earning the State Champion title as well.

They had a good start to the postseason tournaments, starting out with a conference tournament win.

Three girls made the Canadian Valley All Conference: Senior Haley McKinley, Junior Caressa Woods and Freshman Kory Scott.

After that, the Outlaws won the Regional Qualifier at Pauls Valley’s home course.

The Regional match was a close one.

They were tied for first at the end of regular play with Lone Grove, who also had a team score of 358, sending them to a playoff hole.

Marlow defeated the Longhorns by two strokes on the hole, making them the Regional Champions and qualifying them for the state tournament.

Junior Gabby Hack was the third place individual scorer with a score of 84.

After Regionals, the team practiced every day until state.

The girls went to the course the day before the practice for the big tournament.

Junior Maddy Elroy was a part of the state winning team.

“We practiced the Lake Murray course and got to stay in a cabin there,” stated Elroy.

“It was good team bonding before state.”

The girls played two rounds at state, one on each day, for a total of 36 holes.

The Outlaws shot a 376 on the first day, putting them only one stroke ahead Heritage Hall going into the final round.

The individual scores were Hack with 86, Woods with 88, McKinley with 96, Scott with 97 and Elroy with 98.

The second day, although full of weather delays, was great for Marlow.
