Pitching through his senior year, Cooper Smith continues to exceed expectations while playing baseball for the Marlow High School baseball team.

Smith has been on the MHS baseball team for four years.

Smith’s love for baseball all started from his father’s involvement and passion for the sport.

“My father got me interested in baseball from a very young age,” explained Smith. “My parents  have always been there helping to motivate me throughout my life.”

Smith is also very motivated by his teammates who share the same passions and goals as he does.

The whole team has continued to push each other toward the goal of winning state, Smith helping his teammates as well, with leadership.

One person who has benefited from Smith is fellow teammate and junior Dawson Baker.

Baker has been on the baseball team with Smith for five years.

“I met Cooper from baseball, and from the beginning he has been a great teammate and friend,’’ expressed Baker. “He is a very motivating and hardworking teammate.”

Another teammate that holds an even stronger bond to Smith is his younger brother and  sophomore Brisco Smith.

Brisco has always looked up to his older brother because of his actions and great attitude in everything he does.

Brisco and Cooper have played on the high school baseball team together for two years now.

“Cooper is very motivating because he is very hard working and always ready to go out to the baseball field and practice with me,” Brisco said. “He has always been a kind person to me and everyone else around him.”

Smith plans to further his career playing baseball at Northern Oklahoma College in Enid, Oklahoma.
