Marlow parades its holiday spirit

Showing off their holiday spirit, the city of Marlow hosted Saturday, December 4.

This parade showcased a variety of Marlow businesses and organizations, with Marlow establishments participating as well as community members.

The participants walked or rode down Main Street on floats or antique cars beginning at 10:00 A.M.

With the last of the parade crossing Main Street at approximately 11:00 A.M., the paraders successfully spread Christmas spirit to town members.

The participants greeted the crowd as well as passed candy out to crowd members.

Several organizations participated in this event, some of which include students that attend Marlow High school.

One of the organizations who participated was the MHS band, which contains ninety students that are enrolled in the course.

One of these students is junior Bryce Duncan, who has marched with the MHS band since his freshman year and explained how the band prepared for the parade.

“We learned a song called the ‘Christmas Parade Song’ and marched around the block the day before,” Duncan said.

Alongside the band, Marlow Cheer also took part in the parade and marched alongside the Bootleggers.

Sophomore Gabby Hack, who has been involved with the cheer team for nearly five years, expressed her favorite part of the Christmas parade.

“I like walking around and seeing the kids’ smiling faces,” Hack stated.

With the first parade taking place in the 1930s, the annual parade has taken place on Main Street nearly every year alongside the Fourth of July parade.

Marlow has always been a town that took part in parades, having photos of parades taken as early as the 1900s.

The parade was sponsored and organized by the Marlow Chamber of Commerce, who have been in charge of the parade’s funds and organization since the beginning of the event.

The City of Marlow and its citizens will continue to spread Christmas cheer through many
