Earlier this school year, the juniors voted on the theme “The Great Gatsby” in a meeting led by prom committee adviser Beverly Cramton.

The theme of the prom was later expanded to “The Roaring Twenties,” coming from the novel The Great Gatsby.

The theme was originally Gatsby, but there were limited decorations for the prom room, according to Cramton.

“The Gatsby theme did not allow much room to expand on,” Cramton said.

The theme is carried out in columns, arches, flapper girl cutouts, roadster cars, jazz music and other decor related to the era.

A survey was given to 91 students at the high school, and 67 of the 91 students said they are happy with the theme choice.

Twenties was a time of exploration of music styles, trends and dancing.

The girls at are also exploring different styles of dresses at the prom.

Out of the 47 girls who answered surveys, 24 said they were wearing short dresses, and 27 are wearing long.

The color choices have varied this year with blue, black and red being the most popular.

Many girls have also decided to wear colors that fit their skin tone best, according to junior Abbi Allen.

“I decided to go with a short hot pink dress that makes me look more tan,” Allen said.

Of the 33 boys who took the survey, 20 have decided to go classic with their tux, and the other 13 have decided to explore their own unique style.

Many of the couples have made plans to join friends and their dates on a party bus, with 58 of the 91 surveyed students riding the bus.

The students have chosen to eat at various places, the most popular being Zio’s and Bourbon Street Café in Oklahoma City.

Junior Makayla Ortega will be attending her second Marlow prom this year.

“We had a lot of fun on the party bus last year, so I am really looking forward to it.”
