TALENTED FRESHMAN. Blair Brantley (left) was the district and regional champion in FCCLA Creed Speaking. Although she did not place at state, Marlow FCCLA adviser Tamra Huddleston (right) said her performance was impressive for a freshman.

Brantley was entered in Creed Speaking where the competitor must memorize, present and interpret the FCCLA creed.

In order to qualify for state, Brantley had to place first at districts and regionals.

FCCLA adviser Tamra Huddleston said that Brantley was the youngest in her division.

“I am very proud of her. Blair was the only freshman competing against sophomores, which proves how much of a hard worker she really is.”

Junior Sara Folmar, who got third at regionals, attended the state competition.

Folmar said that she is impressed by Brantley.

“I’m a junior and I didn’t even make it to state, so that proves how dedicated she was to this,” Folmar said. “She might only be a freshman, but she is motivated and also proud to be a FCCLA member.”

Brantley said she did not regret anything even though she did not place at state.

“Although I didn’t place, I am very proud to have been a part of it,” Brantley said.

Huddleston also gives thanks to drama instructor Paula McConnell and Jerry Hickingbottom for their support.

“Mrs. McConnell and Mr. Hickingbottom had great advice. Their input on stage presentation was greatly appreciated,” Huddleston said.
