Knox loves gridiron

For one Marlow athlete, his love of football started well before his high school career.

With a 64-0 record his little league seasons, senior Logan Knox started playing Outlaw football as a running back in third grade.

Though he has evolved into wide receiver and strong safety on the Marlow Varsity team, Knox said that little league was one his greatest memories.

“It was great going undefeated,” Knox said.

Knox’s passion for the game has stayed with him from little league to his senior year.

Assistant football coach Jeremy Gage praises Knox’s character on and off the field.

“I’ve coached Logan since 8th grade, and he continually gets better. He will be successful at everything he does in life for two reasons: He’s talented and his work ethic is second to none.”

“He never has an awkward moment,” senior Nick Yates said about Knox’s performance.

For Knox, the sport is not just about the playing time, but the connection with his teammates.

“I love bonding with my team,” Knox said.

Just as every story has its end, Knox is not too excited about this particular ending.

“I’m not happy that the last season I’ll ever play as a Marlow Outlaw is coming to an end     ,” Knox said. “I’ve played my whole life, and now it’s almost over.”

Senior Beau Meshell reflects on his teammate, classmate, and friend’s character.

“He’s hardworking and humble,” Meshell said. “He comes through in big situations.”

In contrary to being humble, Knox’s nickname on the field is “Peacock.”

“It’s probably because he strut’s his stuff all the time,” senior Addison Wortham said.

After graduation, Knox plans to attend University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond and major in industrial safety.

“Though I’m looking forward to college, playing football will be something that makes leaving so hard,” Knox said. “All of the chemistry between our team and everyone coming out to support us as we play is something I will miss.”

Logan is the son of Craig and Amy Knox.
