Dedicated to academics, Barber is among the top students in her class.

“I’m a nerd,” Barber said.

Barber said math is her favorite subject, but music defines her personality.

“She’s dependable and reliable, someone who strives for perfection,” vocal teacher Brent Logan said.

Being in Entertainers for four years, Barber’s experience and willingness to help has made her someone who others turn to.

Barber describes the vocal program as a place where people sing together, work together and “build relationships.”

Over the past four years, Barber said she has experienced both good and bad times.

She has participated in several group competitions, sung in several concerts and confronted stone-faced judges; however, nothing compares to what she went through when vocal teacher Lori Geis passed away during Barber’s sophomore year.

“She (Lori Geis) was kind of like a mom, a person you could just go and talk about anything to. She will affect my life forever,” Barber said.

This future includes majoring in pharmacy.

Majoring in this field takes serious work, but Barber said she is ready and prepared.

High school principal Brian Brantley said he is confident she will succeed.

“She’ll be fine as long as she continues to work hard and be as kind and pleasant as she always is,” Brantley said.

Barber’s compassion, determination, and personality will help her attain her goals.
