Muncrief legacy continues

beloved, long-time AG educator at Marlow Public Schools, Ernest Muncrief, and his wife, Helen, who was a librarian at Marlow High School, touched the lives of many students. The Muncriefs’ children have continued that legacy through generous donations made recently to Marlow Public Schools. George, Jean, and Jon Muncrief, each, donated $2000 to MPS with the monies ear marked for the libraries at all three campuses and the AG program.

Although both Mr. and Mrs. Muncrief retired from teaching at Marlow in 1979, the generous donations of the Muncrief family insure that all Marlow students will continue to be impacted.

“We are very appreciative of the generous gifts from the Muncrief family and have worked to utilize the money in ways that impact the largest number of students. All donations of this sort are utilized for the best interests of the student body, as a whole.” –George E. Coffman, Superintendent of Schools

Muncrief taught AG at Marlow High School for years before being inducted into the Oklahoma State Career Tech Hall of Fame in Stillwater, OK. His teaching still impacts students in Stephens County today as many former students are now AG teachers in their own classrooms. Mrs. Muncrief’s tenure as school librarian paved the way for many of the improvements that have led to the current media centers at each campus. “We are always proud to honor those educators who have impacted students so completely. Mr. and Mrs. Muncrief were those educators, and, through the generous donations of their children, future generations of Marlow students will continue to be affected,” Coffman said. Anyone wishing to make donations on behalf of their family member(s) may contact George E. Coffman, Jr., at 580-658-2719.
