The annual Veterans Day assembly sponsored by the Student Council was held on Monday, November 11. Student Council president Anne` Wortham opened the assembly by reciting an anonymous poem entitled “It is the Veteran.” The Entertainers did an a cappella version of “The Star Spangled Banner.” Keynote speaker for the assembly was SFC Brett Yackeshi, a 27 year veteran of the armed forces. Yackeshi made many good points and gave his definition of a hero–“normal people doing extraordinary things.” When Yackeshi concluded his remarks the student body honored him with a standing ovation.
