Following in her Dad’s footsteps in more ways than one is senior Sarah Ivory. Ivory has been involved in the Marlow Lady Outlaw cross country and track teams her entire high school career.

She was inspired to run by her parents, who also ran throughout their high school careers.

“Both of my parents ran in high school and received many awards as well as trophies that are now hung in the new gym,” Ivory said. “This inspired me to run and achieve the same awards they did.”

Ivory has accomplished many goals; however, one thing that really stands out is her making it all the way to the state cross country tournament four years in a row.

According to head coach Mikey Eaves, Ivory has been a great example for her teammates all four years.

“Sarah has been a great leader for this team and has shown her love for others as well as for God,” Eaves said. “She is one reason we have had great success in our program. I am very proud of her and her accomplishments.”

Running is not the only thing that her Dad has inspired her to do. He has helped in choosing a career for his daughter.

Sarah has believed since she was little that being in the medical field was where she was supposed to be, and her father has a lot to do with that.

Ivory’s father is a family practice physician at Family Med in Duncan.

“Since I was little I always watched Untold Stories of The ER and Baby Story,” Ivory said. “With the help of my father and those shows, I found that my passion was nursing.”

Ivory’s dream is to become as a registered nurse and specialize in neonatal care.

She is well currently working toward her major by being an active student in the health careers program at the Red River Technology Center in Duncan.

Sarah is the daughter of Matt and Lisa Ivory.
