Social networking has inspired this year’s homecoming candidates to set homecoming theme as “Throwback.” The homecoming court will take the field at half-time on Friday, October 4th, during Marlow’s game against Mount Saint Mary’s.

A week of homecoming spirit days will culminate with the annual district-wide pep assembly at 1:30 on Friday at Outlaw Stadium.

“Our goal at this year’s all-school pep assembly is to get everyone involved,” Cassie Archer, cheer coach, said.

‘Merica Monday, Tacky Tourist Tuesday, Way Back Wednesday, Thrift Shop Thursday and Football Friday are all activities that Marlow High School’s cheer squad encourages the  high school student body to participate in.

The 2013 football homecoming court includes Karsen Baker, Kayla Richardson, Hunter Scalf, Kylie Sellers and Anne’ Wortham.

The crowning captain is Kagan Blackburn.

Karsen Baker is the daughter of Randy and Aleta Wilson and Brian and Michele Baker.

“My favorite memory about homecoming is the beautiful dresses,” Baker said.

Baker will be escorted by Kelby Richardson, the son of Keith and Melissa Patterson and Jim Richardson.

“I remember when my cousin, Bretlie, was a homecoming candidate. Ever since then, its been my dream to be one,” Kayla Richardson said.

Richardson is the daughter of Mark and Kellie Richardson. Escorting Richardson is Mike McGrew, the son of Lanetta McGrew.

Hunter Scalf is the daughter of Nick and Kris Scalf.

“As a kid, seeing the homecoming candidates dressed up every year made me want to be one of those girls so bad. Then, my sister was nominated, and it made being a homecoming candidate that much more special,” Scalf said. The son of Bonnie Cole and the late Jon McCullers, Gerald McCullers, will be escorting Scalf.

“I always like seeing all the excitement throughout the school. Everyone’s spirit is just overwhelming,” Kylie Sellers said.

Sellers is the daughter of Mike and Kelly Sellers. Sellers will be escorted by Josh Mercer, the son of  Darrell and Sonya Waller and Mark Mercer.

Anne’ Wortham, the daughter of Bobby and Robin Wortham, will be escorted by Seth Scarbrough, the son of Don and Teresa Scarbrough. “I’ve always loved homecoming, but I remember thinking how weird it was that the winner got kissed. I still kind of feel that way, actually.” Wortham said.

Crowning captain, Kagan Blackburn, is the son of Tracy Slate and Robert Blackburn.
