With both boys and girls teams placing first at the conference meet Tuesday, September 24th, in Lindsay, the Outlaws are looking for another successful season. The teams finished as state runners-up last year and have set their sights on reaching the top.

“The team is making a name for themselves in their division early off in the season,” head coach Mikey Eaves said.

Bringing home a first place win from their home meet, the girls had many runners finishing in the top spots.

Sophomore Rylee Rich took first place as an individual in the girls division.

On average, the girls run at least four miles a day along with participating in community service projects every other week.

Eaves said that the runners’ strength is that they have come together as a team.

“We have quality runners that will

by the end of the year find their place at the top of the class.

with continual work and motivation,” Eaves said.

This past Saturday, the girls ran at Oklahoma Baptist University in which they tied for first place against Seminole.

The Lady Outlaw cross country team consists of seniors Jill Cowley, Sarah Ivory, and Leah Walden; sophomores Morgan Denham, Rylee Rich, and Tiarah Nunley; and freshmen Kambree Farmer, Lauryn Knox, Hailey Parker, Hannah Scarbrough and Kallie Slate.

As the Marlow boys cross country team starts their season once again, they are stacked with talent and numbers.

“The boy’s strength this year is the large number of participants,” head coach Mikey Eaves said. “With seventeen boys running, this makes for great competition that will help each runner to improve.”

The boys have been working extremely hard every day, running in the hottest part of the day.

“You can really tell that by their hard work that each athlete is improving and as a coach I could not ask for a better team,” Eaves said.

The boys started their season at their home meet in Marlow where they dominated with a first place win as a team. Individually, Junior Nathan Crowson won the meet with a time of 11:06.

“It was nice to see all of my time that I have put in and all of my hard work finally pay off.” Crowson said.

At Oklahoma Baptist University this Saturday, the boys ran a good race coming home with a second place win. The team consists of seniors Justin Brown, Chris Davis, Brian Harper and Jay Hornberger;

juniors Jonathon Cantwell, Nathan Crowson, Cole Eveland, Nathan Fikes, Logan Hanley, Patrick Whitehead and Jeremy Thomas; sophomores Mathew Daniels, Dalton Denham, Dean Howard and Kyle Seeley; and freshmen Ethan Blanchfield, Zach Himes, J.D Howard, and Ben Ivory.

On September 28th both boys and girls cross country teams will be running at the OSU Jamboree followed by a meet in Velma on October 1st and an invitational at Oklahoma Baptist University on October 10th.

Cross country regionals will be held on October 19th followed by the state meet in Shawnee on October 26th.
