Cantwell shows creativity through senior year

Senior Maya Cantwell has always been an artsy soul, so when she got the chance to take an art class, that is exactly what she did.

Cantwell joined art her junior year and stated, “I took art one my junior year that way I could do art my last two years of high school, and I thought it would help me become a better artist.”

Throughout her years in art she has learned many skills.

Cantwell stated, “I learned how to oil paint, how to draw better and just more little techniques that have helped improve my art tremendously.”

Her biggest accomplishment would be a rose she drew in colored pencil that got best over all at an art show.

Although she has already gotten recognition for her art, Cantwell exclaimed, “I will always keep working at things to make them better.”

Fellow senior Sage Minyard, who has known Cantwell since elementary school, has many positive things to say about not only Cantwell but also her art.

“Maya’s best characteristics are her artistic abilities and honesty. She is very creative in everything she does,” Minyard said. “Maya is such a fun person to be around, and she is an all around great person to go to when you need an honest opinion.”

Another friend of Cantwells is junior Lauren Ivory, who has known her for many years.

Ivory mentions how she has been inspired by Cantwell and how she has been growing as a person.

“Maya has motivated me by always being herself and encouraging me to do the same,” Ivory stated. “She is constantly trying to get out of her comfort zone and try new things.”

Cantwell plans to take her outgoing, fun and artistic abilities to the college of her choosing.
