Reaping the benefits of their seasons’ hard work, the Lady Outlaw Softball Team continued their season into the playoff games.
The team hosted the Bethany Bronchos at the 4A regional Bi-Districts on Thursday September 23, the game starting at 3 P.M.
Junior Abigail Oliver plays as a pitcher for the team, having played on the varsity team for three years.
“I am definitely mentally stronger in the game now than I was at the beginning of the season,” Oliver said. “I think I played well, but it definitely helped that I had my team behind me.”
The game was a best two out of three series and consisted of a total of two wins for the Lady Outlaws, allowing the girls to move on to the next game of the 2022 fall season.
The Bi-District game marks the opportunity for the Lady Outlaw’s to move on to the regional tournament.
Thanks to their personal improvements, the Lady Outlaw’s have grown closer as a team.
First year head coach Trevor Hudgenson has spent the season building his team’s skills for the end of the season as well as future seasons.
“I am extremely proud of the girls for taking the first step in where we want to be,” Hudgens said. “As the year has progressed I think we have found an identity as a team.”
The Lady Outlaws have high hopes for the rest of their season, already having made improvements.
Senior Parker Hayes has played softball for nearly her whole life and has played a major role in the teams communication
“My hope for regionals is that we go out and play our hardest for each other and for God,” Hayes expressed. “It is hard to beat a team that is working their tails off for something more than themselves.”
The Lady Outlaws will bring their skills at the sport as well as teamwork to the 4A regional tournament at Tecumseh.
