King stars in her senior year
Senior Alexus King has been a member of the Marlow Outlaw Speech Team (MOST) since her junior year.
King is one of the many students who have gone into a class expecting a different outcome then the one they received.
“I joined drama because I wanted to be a part of a family, and I originally joined drama to be a part of stagecraft,” explained King. “I soon realized how much fun it was to perform, and I knew that is what I wanted to do.”
King performed as Mrs. Quigley in this year’s annual play, “Oh What a Tangled Web,” hosted by MOST Advisor Paula McConnell on Oct. 8-9.
“Alexus is one of our strongest dramatic actresses,” stated McConnell. “It was fun for an audience to see her in ‘Oh, What a Tangled Web’ because her comic timing is so on point.”
McConnell has been teaching King about the importance of drama and speech for three years, making her know King on a deeper level.
“Alexus is definitely a strong lead on MOST,” McConnell said. “Alexus’s personality reminds me that kindness wins out.”
With King being on the drama team for years, she has been able to develop more skills along the way.
In 2021, King placed as regional champion in poetry and dramatic duet, and also placed eighth in state at dramatic duet.
Being a member of MOST takes many skills, including responsibility and leadership.
McConnell talked about how King is an important asset to the MOST team.
“She quietly, consistently works and helps others work,” McConnell stated. “She is also such a pleasant, mature person to be around.”
King plans to take her responsibility and leadership to East Central University where she will major in biology, before attending physician’s assistant school and becoming a physician’s assistant.
