With five years of wrestling experience, senior Tyler Lawson’s involvement on the Marlow Wrestling team has provided him with once-in-a-lifetime memories.
Being named both a regional and state champion, Lawson has created a strong name for himself in the world of wrestling.
When asked what he has gained from being a member of the Marlow Wrestling team, Lawson placed an emphasis on the will power he has acquired throughout his participation.
“Wrestling has made me tougher mentally and physically and has made me very self-disciplined,” said Lawson. “I have learned to always stay disciplined and to always try my hardest at everything no matter what.”
Lawson did not become a great wrestler on his own though, stating that wrestling head coach Andy Howington has made the biggest impact on him.
Guiding Lawson through each of his wrestling endeavors, Howington spoke about Lawson’s determined personality and strengths.
“Tyler has become a leader for us. He is a great young man,” said Howington. “He is not afraid to work hard. Tyler will succeed in anything he chooses to do.”
Inspiring younger wrestlers, Lawson is described as being a leader to his peers through his hard work and dedication.
Having seen Lawson develop into the person he is today, junior and friend of five years Carson Moore spoke about the impact Lawson has made on the team.
“The best quality Tyler brings to the team is his leadership,” said Moore. “Tyler will always be the hardest working person in the room, which causes his teammates to work harder themselves.”
Moore continued with what he believes Lawson has learned from his longtime history with the wrestling team.
“Tyler has learned from wrestling how to push himself beyond his limits,” stated Moore. “By pushing himself further than his mind thought he could go, Tyler has had great success in the sport.”
With plans of becoming a physical therapist, Lawson has a promising future ahead of him and a team of talented athletes supporting his every move.
