Students enjoy snow days

The first snowfall of the 2019-20 year brought winter fun to Marlow Public School’s when superintendent George Coffman called for a snow day on Wednesday and Thursday, Feb. 6-7.

Students of Marlow High School took advantage of the snowdays they received.

Gathering with friends, senior Gavin Kizarr went outside on the first snow day to experience the freezing temperatures and snowfall.

“It’s been a while since it has snowed in Marlow, so we took advantage of the snow days we got,” said Kizarr. “My friends and I got out, built a snowman and had a snowball fight. We all just got to hang out outside, something we never really get to do much anymore.”

Spending time with family and friends outdoors, senior Jayleigh Totten described the quality time she spent with those around her, securing her memories on social media.

“My friends and I all made a TikTok about the snow and put Christmas music on it,” said Jayleigh. “Then we went to my house and went sledding with my dad, drank some hot chocolate and then sat by a fire.”

Alongside Totten and Kizarr, many others were able to enjoy outdoor snow activities in the short time period given.

Eager to get involved in the first snow of the year, junior Aubrey Topping went outside on both snow days to get the full experience of the weather.

“I spent most of both of the day outdoors with my friend and my sister building snowmen,” said Topping. “To get warm, we baked brownies and then spent the rest of the nights watching Disney movies.”

As the snow days came to an end, MPS resumed back to school on Friday, Feb. 7 after the snow had melted the previous night.
