Running towards the end of his high school career, senior Liam Johnson strives to be the best cross country runner he can be.
Having been in cross country since his seventh grade year, Johnson recalled why he joined the sport to begin with.
“I joined cross country because I have always been a runner,” Johnson said. “I thought it would be fun, and it would also be a good challenge.”
Bringing countless qualities to the team, Johnson appeared as a role model to many of his teammates.
Gaining a friend through cross country, senior Tyler Lawson described the motivation and dedication that Johnson gave to the sport.
“Liam brought a hard work ethic everyday to practice,” Lawson explained. “You can always rely on him, which is a valuable part of the team.”
Throughout his course of running, Johnson has not only made an impact on the other seniors but also on numerous lowerclassmen.
Junior Noah Davis explained why he believes Johnson should be recognized for his skills and strengths.
“I do believe Liam deserves to be student of the week,” Davis said. “He is a very hard working student and would be willing to go out of his way to help others.”
Learning many lessons through his time on the team, Johnson has learned to push himself to do his best at any point in time.
“Cross country has taught me to work hard, and that hard work most certainly pays off,” Johnson said. “I put in a ton of effort in practice to make myself better, and I was able to run in the state meet because of it.”
In the long run, Johnson plans to attend Spartan College of Aeronautics and Technology to major in Avionics Electronic Technology.
