With fall break kicking off on Friday, Oct. 18, students have been preparing for the four-day break by scheduling how to spend their time away from school.
A survey sent throughout Marlow High School asked students what their plans are for their off period, and the responses varied.
With a total of 200 participants, feedback ranged from resting to spending time with relatives.
While the three most common responses were spending time with friends, working and sleeping, spending time focusing on school is still a top priority for some students.
One of the students who plans to split her time between school and friends is junior Elena Holguin.
“My plans are to work on things for school,” wrote Holguin. “Research papers, student council, and drama stuff. I also plan on hanging out with my friends.”
Similarly to keeping school in mind, students also spoke about traveling to visit universities that they dream of attending.
Senior Melinda Whiteman will be traveling over two states to spend time arranging her future.
“My plans for fall break are to travel to Nebraska to tour York University,” wrote Whiteman.
While some students are traveling to another state to visit relatives, many students wrote that their fall break is going to consist of hosting a family gathering that enables them to spend time with their loved ones.
Freshman Payton Ortega’s outline of fall break includes soaking up moments with kin.
“My family from Missouri is coming,” said Ortega. “We are going to haunted houses and hanging out.”
Senior Dalton Moore also plans on spending time with relatives that are not often in town.
“I am going to hang out with my brother who is flying in from Japan,” wrote Moore.
With the first quarter of the 2019-20 school year coming to an end, students are celebrating the accomplishment of completing their first nine weeks of school.
Whether their celebration includes sleeping or traveling across the country, it appears as if each Marlow High School student is looking forward to their well deserved time off.
