The number of extra curricular classes available to Marlow High School students continues to grow and transcend.
Organizations such as band, choir and art are a staple at MHS; however, as time goes by, new classes are required to meet the needs of students in an ever changing society.
With today being the age of video, the Multi-media class has been a course for the past three years.
Multi-media is a class that students can take starting their sophomore year of high school.
The class allows students to explore the endless possibilities in photography and video editing.
Sophomore London Hise had long discovered a growing passion for technology and film work.
When Hise first heard of Multi-media during his freshman year, he was eager to join the class for the following school year.
Now a member of the group, Hise has had a learning experience of teamwork and leadership.
“Multi-media has been a fun experience for me,” said Hise. “Even though we have a small group, Multi-media is still a really productive class. With it being just the 4 of us, we work better with this size.”
Though the fall semester has just begun, the Multi-media team has already accomplished many achievements.
“We have completed multiple projects,” said Hise. “We helped create videos for Prom, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and other clubs at our school.”
Multi-media advisor Jeff Prater says he has learned just as much as the students have during the past 3 years Multimedia has been a class.
“We have learned a lot about making better quality videos,” said Prater. “The Video Media Services group from Oklahoma University has helped us by coming to our class to coach us in producing better videos.”
The quality of the videos that Multi-media has filmed have gradually increased during the period it has existed.
While growing and learning new techniques, Multi-media staff has also created a YouTube channel called “Marlow High School Multi-media” to show off their accomplishments.
With the idea of a class that has video editing in mind, it opens many more possibilities for students who are intrigued by it, thus preparing them for what the future has for them.
