The sun will come out this Saturday when the Marlow Entertainers put on the musical “Annie,” with a performance for the public set for 3 p.m. in the high school auditorium. Admission is $5.

The production is a fundraiser for the Marlow High School vocal group, which will be performing various Civil War era songs at Washington D.C. in April.

They will have the honor to perform on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial and in the National Cathedral.

These ladies, along with assistant principal Jeremy Gage and senior Tyler Gibbs, are singing, dancing and acting to earn funds for the trip.

Junior Kaylee Brooks talked about how happy she was when everyone found out what part they played and added that everyone will see how talented the Entertainers are.

 

“I was super excited when I found out I was Annie. I enjoy doing the musical and people will see that this is why we are going to Washington D.C.”

Senior Shayla Barber, who is running the sound, said she is thrilled to be a part of the musical and be able to watch the characters blossom into what will be shown on stage.

“I’m beyond excited to be able to work behind the scenes and watch the performers transform from their shy inner selves to these great actors and actresses who really portray their characters as they do in the movie. They put their own twist to the characters and show a bit of their own personality, however. I think it will be a really good play that everyone will love,” Barber said.

Vocal teacher Brent Logan commented on the enthusiasm and the initial apprehension felt by everyone in the musical.

“We are all excited to be able to do this and hope that the school is appreciative of all the hard work we put into it,” Logan said.

A performance of “Annie” was given for the elementary students on Jan. 28.

There is a performance scheduled for the middle school on Thursday Jan. 29 and the high school at 12:15 on Friday, Jan. 30.

Cost for the middle school is $2 and cost for the high school is $3.
