On Friday, March 1, students from across Oklahoma attended an Interscholastic meet at Cameron University.

This meet has been held for 42 years, encouraging students to test their education in various subjects.

Some of these topics include science, history, music, speech and different linguistics.

One main contributor to Marlow being so involved in these advanced academic endeavors is junior English teacher and yearbook advisor Beverly Cramton.

“The interscholastic meet is a great opportunity for MHS students to further their knowledge and represent Marlow academics,” said Cramton. “I love that the students get the chance to push themselves.”

Among the several students who competed at the event was junior Morgan Lane, who played the “The Ocean,” by Led Zeppelin on his electric guitar.

“Guitar is very enjoyable for me as guitar is an extension of myself,” Lane said.

Contemplating the meet, Lane said, “School is very important for the betterment of everyone’s future. Without school, there would be no scientists, no engineers, no doctors, no lawyers, et cetera.”

Another talented student who did a great job at the event was sophomore Camden Hekia, who competed in world history.

“I really enjoyed the interscholastic meet because I was able to compete in a subject that I love and be with my classmates,” said Hekia.

The interscholastic meet at Cameron has provided students with the ability to be confident in themselves and further their educations.
