Senior Dawson Baker has
been a member of the Marlow
High School baseball team
for four years now, beginning
the sport itself when he was
just four years old.
Baker has grown as a play-
er since he began playing,
learning many life lessons
through the sport and finding
a love for it.
“To me, the best part about
baseball is playing with my
friends and having the op-
portunity to travel all over. I
would say that my strongest
trait is talking and making
people laugh,” said Baker.
“I have learned to be a good
teammate and leader because
of baseball, and my mom has
had the biggest impact on me,
helping me every step of the
way.”
Spending the majority of
his career as a first baseman,
Baker has worked very hard
to contribute to his team.
His dedication to baseball
has impressed many people,
including baseball coach and
world history teacher John
Morgan.
“I have known Dawson
for nine years now, and I am
amazed by his outlook on life
and attitude,” said Morgan.
“Dawson is a very diligent
worker and has a very high
baseball IQ.”
Baker’s success derives
from not only his positive at-
titude and work ethic but also
his ability to build up other
students and show them kind-
ness.
One individual who has
recognized Baker’s ability to
build others up is fellow se-
nior Hunter Miller.
“Dawson and I have grown
up together, becoming good
friends over the years,” said
Miller. “He will always be
there for you no matter what
and will keep you laughing.”
Baker’s leadership will
continue to growon the field
and in the classroom.
After high school Baker
plans on attending Murray
State University, where he
will pursue a degree in busi-
ness.
