Parsons inspires students with speech

Senior Josh Parsons
has been a member of the
Marlow Outlaw Speech Team
(MOST) since his sophomore
year, taking drama 1 his
freshman year.
Since Parsons joined the
team, he has been a nine time
regional qualifier, three time
state qualifier and a two time
state finalist.
“My time in MOST has
taught me to speak up,”
Parsons said. “It has given me
a voice, and I think that it will
help me speak up when things
are wrong.”
Alongside the personal
successes he has had in
drama, Parsons has helped
guide his teammates towards
achievements, including
junior Conner Murrah.
Murrah first met Parsons
in his freshman year and has
grown closer to him through-
out their time in the program.
“Josh’s best quality is his
ability to work,” Murrah said.
“He is good at leading and
has a work ethic that lets him
work hours on end just to get
something done.”
With all of the effort that
he puts toward the program,
he has grown to be a leader
for the team, earning the title
of Team captain.
One teammate who has felt
particularly inspired by Par-
sons is junior Trace Ribble
who is close with him both on
and off the team.
Ribble and Parsons ini-
tially met through Student
Council and have become
close friends over the past
two years.
“Over the past year and
a half, Josh has genuinely
changed as a person,” Ribble
said. “Whether it’s in life,
in general or it’s in a speech
competition, he is always
driven.”
After graduation, Parsons
will continue working to-
wards success as he attends
Oklahoma State University to
pursue a degree in education.
