On Thursday, Dec. 7, the
Marlow Outlaw wrestling
team hosted the Cache
Bulldogs for their Home-
coming dual.
Marlow won the match
with a final score of 50-24.
Sophomore Trenton
Butcher has been wrestling
for four years.
“My favorite part of
Homecoming is getting to
wrestle and seeing every-
one line up for the crown-
ing,” said Butcher.
The Homecoming court,
made up completely of se-
niors, consisted of Demi
Hunt, escorted by Taegan Archer; Ryli Murray, escorted
by Dawson Baker; Skylar Rasmey, escorted by Zach
Dawson; Kenlee Wilson, escorted by Jase Hunt; Caressa
Woods, escorted by Marcus Williams; Crowning Captain
Lawson Knox, escorted by Gabriella Hack; and Assistant
Crowning Captain Cade Gilbert.
At the end of the ceremony, Murray was crowned
Homecoming Queen.
“I am excited to be Homecoming Queen for wrestling
because I have been around wrestling for many years,”
said Murray “Being Homecoming Queen just makes
me feel appreciated by the boys for being a manager for
them,” said Murray, “I wouldn’t trade it for anything.”
Crowning Captain Knox has been wrestling for twelve
years.
“My favorite part of Homecoming is getting to be rec-
ognised with my fellow senior teammates,” said Knox.
“The Crowning Captain, to me, is just the same as all the
other candidates that made it, but it is an honor to get to
be the captain.”
Knox believes that the team will improve more and
more as the season goes on.
“I just plan to keep working hard, competing and get-
ting better every match,” said Knox.“Last season I did
well and competed my best
but had a heartbreaking
loss in the state finals. Now
I am working for a differ-
ent outcome this year.”
Another wrestler for
Marlow’s team is Gilbert
who has been wrestling for
fifteen years.
Gilbert. “It is only our
first week back. I got a pin
in our first dual. Overall,
last night was a good team
win to start out our season.”
Just as the rest of his
team mates have high
hopes for the season, so
does Gilbert, especially af-
ter his outstanding first per-
formance of the year.
“My plans for the rest of the season are to get better
and prepare myself for college,” said Gilbert.
Though he did not compete in the match due to injury,
Baker is excited to see how the team does this season.
“I am out for the year with a shoulder injury, but a lot of
really great things are coming for the team,” said Baker.
As the season continues, the team plans on working
harder to win 4A Dual and Team State.
The next tournament is Dec. 15-16 at the Southern
Oklahoma Invitational tournament in Duncan.
