As the Marlow Outlaws
transition into the winter
sports season, the Outlaw
swim team has worked
hard in order to prepare for
the upcoming meets.
Their first meet occurred
on Dec. 1 at Duncan, OK.
Sophomore Miguel Lara
attended the first meet, and
he feels that it went well
for him.
“The first meet set a real-
ly good tone, and it showed
me what to expect for the
rest of the season,” said
Lara.
Lara has many goals for
himself to accomplish in
the upcoming season.
“I want to go to state for
the 100 meter relay and to
accomplish it. I am going
to keep practicing swim-
ming fast and dive in bet-
ter,” said Lara.
Someone else who has
been putting in the work
for swimming is senior Lo-
gan Woods.
“I think the first meet let
us know we had a lot of po-
tential,” said Woods.
One of the teams’ big-
gest contributors has been
the new MHS swim coach
Cindy Dyes.
Dyes has many objec-
tives that she has set for her
swimmers this season.
“Our goals this season
are to qualify in the top
sixteen at regionals and to
advance to the state meet in
February,” said Dyes.
Through her time coach-
ing this season, Dyes has
seen a leader arise on the
swim team in order to boost
their performance.
“We only have one re-
turning swimmer, Logan
Woods, and he is a good
leader and demonstrates a
good work ethic for the new
swimmers,” said Dyes.
