munity Leaders of America

(FCCLA) prepares for contest
with this year’s district theme
“Hunting for Leadership”.
Continuing with their hunt

for leadership, Marlow’s FC-
CLA members attended the

Southwest District Conven-
tion on Tuesday, Oct. 24.

The event was hosted by
the Apache Warriors and took
place at the Warrior Event
Center.
It began with the district
President of FCCLA Faith

Hollowell welcoming every-
one.

Sophomore Emma Con-
way enjoyed the welcoming

session the most.
“I liked listening to Faith
Hollowell speak because she
just sounded very powerful,”
said Conway.

During the event was a t-
shirt contest and sign contest.

Marlow FCCLA Brianna
Dalrymple designed a lion
made of the word leader for
Marlow’s shirts, helping
Marlow win the contest and a
red jacket.
Sophomore Alexi Linden
was proud of the design on
Marlow’s shirts.
“Winning made the team
feel amazing because we
went in there not feeling great
about winning and left very
proud,” exclaimed Linden.
There was also guest
speaker Alton Carter, who

shared his life experiences.
Linden appreciated the
guest speaker, believing he
had a very strong message.
“I really liked getting to
listen to the guest speaker. He
talked about his life and how
he had to go through all of
these obstacles to get where
he is,” stated Linden, “Now
it showed me that when you
think your life is so horrible

but you don’t know what oth-
er people have gone through,

and if they got through you
can.”

With the district conven-
tion complete, FCCLA will

be participating in the District
Star Event competition on
Nov. 13 at Duncan Chisholm
Trail Church of Christ.
