Senior Jesika Friedl has
been a part of the Pride of

Outlaw Country band pro-
gram for seven years.

Friedl first joined the

band because of her broth-
er, but she has stayed be-
cause of the long lasting

friendships that are a direct
result of being in band.
Senior Chesine Staurt
has known Friedl for eight
years, first meeting on the
playground in elementary

school and then continu-
ing to grow their friendship

through their common in-
terest in band.

“She has inspired me to
be kinder, and I value her

advice and guidance re-
garding everything from

band and English home-
work, to my personal life,”

declared Staurt.

The first quality that peo-
ple notice about Friedl is

her tremendous personality.

“Jesika’s energy is con-
tagious. Her positive atti-
tude and upbeat personality

keeps us smiling and laugh-
ing, explained Staurt. “She

is also an effective leader,
and she goes out of her way
to show that she cares about
everyone in band.”

Friedl believes her lead-
ership skills are her best

characteristic.
“I show my leadership

skills by directing the lower

classmen in the right direc-
tion,” Friedl said.

Friedl is section leader
for the trombone section
with band director Matt

Pitts able to see her flour-
ish.

“Last year, Jesika was
able to rely heavily on her
senior section leaders,”
said Pitts. “This year, she
is the section leader, and
has many other students
who are depending on her.
Watching this transition has
been a joy.”
In addition Pitts states,
“Jesika knows how to have
fun and work hard. She is
one of my students who is
able to turn on and off the
switch for working hard
and having fun and she can
do it seamlessly.”
Following Friedl’s last
year in the Marlow band,
she plans on attending
Cameron University and
majoring in history.
