Stuart conducts the final note of senior year
Any time senior Chesnie Stuart attends a football game or competition on behalf of the Marlow High School band, she brings her very best.
Stuart, a Marlow drum major and section leader for the flute section, is notorious for her willingness to lead and show kindness.
Ever since sixth grade, Stuart knew that band was the activity for her, growing as a leader and finding her passion.
One person that has experienced Stuart’s leadership qualities and overall kindness is Marlow Band Director Matthew Pitts
“Without
hesitation,
I
can
say
clearly
and
honestly
that
Chesnie
is
a
very
strong
leader,”
exclaimed
Pitts.
“The thing that is great about her is that she doesn’t do just one thing, she does it all. She pushes her fellow bandmates into being better versions of themselves and others.”
Not only has Stuart done a great job with the MHS band as a whole but she has done amazing at individual competitions as well.
Though she has won various awards during her band career, one contest that stands out is the All region Symphonic Honor Band where she placed 4th, 3rd, 7th, 4th and 2nd chairs in the top band for five years.
Showcasing her dedication and determination with her flute in hand, Stuart demonstrates the true meaning of being an Outlaw.
One person who has benefited from being friends with Stuart is senior Emma Samples.
“Chesnie always strives for excellence in everything she does. It is inspiring to see how she manages all of her activities and also remains a good friend to others.”
As Stuart prepares for the many challenges that this year will bring, she reflects on the lessons that she has learned from the band.
“Music is truly my passion because I have been able to play the flute competitively and manage time more efficiently,” expressed Stuart. “My parents have been so supportive and encouraging of me throughout everything that I do. They have motivated me to try my absolute best at everything that I do and be kind to everyone no matter what.”
Stuart will continue to be responsible and hardworking as she plans to pursue a major in Instrumental Music Education at the University of Oklahoma or Southwestern Oklahoma State University in hopes of following her passion of becoming a high school band director.
