Ivory runs through senior year

Senior Lauren Ivory has been

a part of the Marlow cross coun-
try team since she was in the sev-
enth grade.

She has excelled in the sport
and had the opportunity to be a
part of the team placing third at

the State Tournament and receiv-
ing the title of Academic State

Champions.
Ivory has stayed motivated
and collected for competition
through her faith.
“I usually prepare for races by

praying because I get really ner-
vous,” Ivory explained. “Saying

verses in my head and praying
helps me calm down.”
Ivory has taken advantage of
the many opportunities the team
has provided her with, including
friendship.
“The team bond is really
good, and I get to spend time

with girls I normally wouldn’t
talk to,” Ivory expressed. “I love

the team, and I love the environ-
ment.”

One person who has ben-
efitted from Ivory being a great

leader and teammate is Senior
Skylar Ramsey.
“Lauren has shown me what
it takes to be a great leader, she is
always there for her teammates,”
stated Ramsey.

Ivory has not only impacted
her friends but also her coaches,
one of these coaches being the
girls cross country coach Mikey
Eaves.
Eaves has coached Ivory for
six years, as long as she has
been on the team and seeing her
grow up.
“Lauren has impacted me
just as much as I have her.
She has shown me what
hard work looks like, and

her love for God and oth-
ers is what I hope I can do

as an adult and a leader as
well,” said Eaves.
Ivory has grown as a person

through her years in cross coun-
try and plans to continue grow-
ing as she enters life after high

school.
Though she has yet to decide
what university she will attend,
Ivory will move on to study to
become a Dental Hygienist.
