Batting their way through the spring season, the Marlow High School Baseball team attended their regional tournament, starting on Thursday, May 4 and ending on Saturday, May 6.

The game consisted of three rounds, and Marlow competed against schools such as the Tuttle Tigers and the Harrah Panthers.

The Outlaws first competed against the Tigers and lost with a score of 7-1.

The boys team then moved on to compete against the Panthers, where they won with a score of 8-5.

The boys once again competed against Tuttle in their final round, the Tigers winning with a score of 8-0.

Sophomore Jacob Crowson played at this tournament and has high hopes for next season.

“From beginning to end we started hitting better and had better automated ball strike scores,” Crowson explained. “Next year we are going to make it to state finals.”

The baseball team played hard and gained experience against the many teams they came into competition with this season.

The Outlaws finished their season with a total of 27 wins.

Coach John Morgan made sure the team met with a number of teams to help improve weaknesses and to provide his young team with opportunities to gain experience.

“The team has grown more than any team that I have been a part of in a season,” Morgan said. “We have a lot of inexperienced kids that want to improve.”

The regional tournament served as both an end to the boy’s season and an end to the seniors’ high school baseball careers.

Senior Cooper Smith is one of these players, having stepped up as a leader his senior year.

“We were a young team this season but everyone played loose and it was fun,” Cooper said. “Lots of guys got good playing time and at bats that will get them ready for next year.”

The Outlaw baseball team has improved and accomplished a variety of endeavors and will continue to do so next year and in future years.
