As the end of the school year came to an end, Marlow high school prepared to say their goodbyes to their seniors with Senior Week.
It was not only the high school administration that prepared to say goodbye but also the community.
Senior week was originally started fifty years ago by members and organizations in the community wanting to contribute to the celebration of the seniors.
Senior week is full of fun events and activities for the seniors to participate in as they prepare to part ways from the place that holds so many memories for them.
The week starts on Sunday and leads up to graduation.
On Sunday it starts off with a Baccalaureate hosted by the Marlow Ministerial Alliance.
Then, Monday was Class Day, where seniors receive individual recognition for their hard work and plans for the future.
Class Day is a time to recognize the seniors who have earned scholarships from local donors, universities, and some state and national scholarships as well.
Tuesday was Senior Checkout with teachers which is the seniors’ final full day of school where they communicated with each teacher to make sure all their books were returned and to give teachers and students the opportunity to say their goodbyes to one another.
Wednesday was one of the busiest days out of the week.
First the seniors went to Senior Breakfast, hosted by the high school administration.
When they finished their breakfast they watched the Senior Video.
The Senior video is a memoir of their time at Marlow Public Schools, which is usually put together by a parent or class president.
After the video, the seniors walk over to the Methodist Church and take one last picture as a class.
Finally for Wednesday, after the last picture, the boys go play either dodgeball or volleyball, and the girls get ready for the Senior Tea.
The girls dress in Kentucky Derby attire for the Senior Tea that is hosted by Delta Sigma, and once there, they get showered with gifts.
On Thursday, the seniors do a final check out and graduation practice.
The graduation practice is a chance for High School Principal Bryan Brantley, High School Vice Principal Jeremy Gage and High School Counselor Amy Herchock to congratulate all the seniors on their accomplishments.
Finally on Friday, the big end to Senior Week and senior year: Graduation.
The Marlow High School Graduation for the Class of 2023 will be held in the high school basketball gym on Friday, May 19 at 7:00 p.m. It will be a time of celebration for Marlow High School seniors and their family, friends, and community.
