Senior Gage DaVoult’s love and passion for swimming first started in the sixth grade and has continued throughout his high school career at Marlow High School.
Joining the swim team his freshman year, DaVoult is one of the MHS swim teams founding members.
DaVoult is a two time 200 Freestyle Relay Area Champion, 100 Freestyle Regional Runner-up, and a four time State Qualifier, serving as one of the MHS swim team’s co-captains.
DaVoult heard about swimming through fellow senior and teammate Karsten Terrel.
“Karsten started swimming and told me about it, so I joined and grew to eventually love it,” stated DaVoult. “Swimming has taught me how to work hard and get rid of mental blocks to compete to the best of my abilities.”
DaVoult encourages and motivates many people, including his friends and teammates.
Terrel and DaVoult have been friends for seven years.
Terrel is also a co-captain and founding member for the MHS swim team.
“I met Gage through another friend, Luke Banks, and I invited him to come hang out at my house one day,” explained Terrel. “We have been friends ever since, and Gage has motivated me to be a better version of myself and push myself.”
Another friend he has motivated is senior Luke Banks, a fellow swim team member.
DaVoult and Banks met on the playground in the fifth grade and have been friends since. They have also been on the swim team together since their freshman year.
“Gage has always been in front of me in swimming, so he motivates me to push harder to be a better swimmer and hopefully be as good as him one day,” expressed Banks.
DaVoult has been a great teammate and leader, after leading his team to swim state this year.
The swim team placed fifth overall at the class 5A State Tournament and hopefully will continue to do just as well in the future.
DaVoult also placed fifth in the Boys 50 Yard Freestyle and ninth in the Boys 100 Butterfly at state this year.
DaVoult signed with the William Jewell College Cardinals where he will be continuing his swim career and his studies.
