Senior Marissa Krautbauer has been a member of the Family Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) since her freshman year, becoming chapter president her junior year and maintaining the role throughout her senior year.

”My favorite part has been the people you meet and the things you get to go do,” Krautbauer stated. “Just being able to grow your leadership in different ways and giving back to the community at the same time.”

Krautbauer served as an FCCLA district vice president of STAR events her junior year, taking on responsibilities such as organizing member involvement and informing members about STAR events.

FCCLA advisor Tamara May has watched Krautbauer grow and change throughout her years in the organization.

“I am very proud of her and thankful for stepping out and doing when so many others wanted to retreat and not do,” May expressed. “She has been an excellent leader and loyal to our chapter, and I appreciate her for that.”

Krautbauer has not only spent her time at Marlow serving in organizations, but she has formed great friendships with the majority of her classmates, including senior Kylie Fisher and junior Chesnie Stuart

Fisher met Krautbauer in her sophomore English class, the two growing closer over the past two years.

“Marissa is known for her intelligence, but she is so much more,” Fisher said. “Her best quality is providing help to anyone who needs it. Even if she is unsure about something, she will try her best to make sure you understand.”

Fellow friend Stuart has known Krautbauer for seven years, the two having met in their church youth group.

“Her best quality is how much she cares about other people,” Stuart expressed. “ She has basically gotten me through school, taught me a lot of the life skills I know today and just been a good friend and someone I can talk to.”

Krautbauer plans to take her sociable personality and leadership abilities to the University of Oklahoma, where she will pursue a degree in meteorology.
