Marroquin scores a successful senior year

Senior Julian Marroquin has been playing running back and strong safety for the Marlow Outlaw Football team since his seventh grade year.

“Being able to be around my friends while doing the thing I love is what drove me to join football,” Marroquin explained.

Back in 2021 on Dec. 11, the Marlow High Schoolfootball team won its first football State Championship since 1964 with a score of 17-13 against Washington High School, and Marroquin was a key component to the victory.

Six years of football experience has shown Marroquin many life skills that will prove to be useful to him later in life.

“Being on the football team has taught me passion, honesty and how to work with others.” Marroquin expressed, “I’ve built strong relationships with people I never thought I would.”

Creating lifelong friendships with his teammates ranks high on his list of accomplishments.

One of Marroquin’s closest friends and teammate is senior Kyle Wilson who has been practicing football since his fifth grade year and played linebacker and tight end this past season.

“Julian has been my biggest friend since the fourth grade when he moved to Marlow,” Wilson stated. “He’s a great leader who leads the younger teammates by example.”

Senior William Bergner has been on the football team since fourth grade and has also built a friendship with Marroquin along the way.

“Julian means the world to me and has since he moved here,” Bergner expressed. “I can always count on him to be there for me or anyone else on the team.”

Marroquin’s football skills inspired many of his teammates on the team.

“He brings energy to the team. Julian has shown and taught us honesty, loyalty, enthusiasm and above all, how to work hard,” Wilson explained.

Marroquin is committed to play football at East Central University  where he plans on pursuing a degree in Kinesiology.
