Journalism and Yearbook staffs attend Fall Media Monday
On Monday, Nov.15Marlow High School yearbook and journalism staff traveled to the University of Oklahoma to participate in Oklahoma Scholastic Media’s Fall Media Monday.
This program helps students expand on their media skills by participating in many classes from teachers and professors from all over the state of Oklahoma.
The journalism staff focused on writing and connecting with their readers while the yearbook staff focused on making their pictures stand out.
This program has not been held in person for two years, so it was beneficial for students to learn face-to-face how to better themselves in their activities.
This was junior Sage Minyard’s first year to go to Fall Media Monday as both a journalism member and yearbook.
“I learned more about the types of pictures there are and good tips that will help me later in the future,” stated Minyard.
It was freshman Brianna Dalrumple’s first Fall Media Monday as well as a member of the journalism staff.
“The interview session was most beneficial to me. It helped me learn better ways to interview people for my future articles.” Dalrumple continued, “The sessions offered for Fall Media Monday can help any amateur newspaper members improve their writing, ideas and interview skills.”
Fall Media Monday helped many students to expand their comfort zones and encourage partaking in challenging activities.
Marlow’s yearbook and journalism students will continue to challenge themselves as the year progresses and await Oklahoma Scholastic Media’s Spring Media Monday which will take place in April 2022.
