Marlow sings for fall season
On Thursday, Oct. 21, the Marlow Vocal Music program performed at the 2021 fall concert in the Marlow High School Auditorium.
This was the program’s first concert of the 2021-22 school year.
Each group performed two songs individually and one was sang by all the choirs together.
The Entertainers and high school chorus performed songs “Your Lovely Face” and “Didn’t My Lord Deliver Daniel” alone.
“Your Lovely Face” was written by Adriano Basncheri and arranged by Patrick M. Liebergen and “Didn’t my Lord Deliver Daniel” Is an African American spiritual arranged by Greg Gilpin.
The sixth, seventh and eighth grade vocalists sang songs “Appalachian Sleepytime” and “Glorybound,” a traditional spiritual song alone.
Lastly, “Why We Sing” by Greg Gilpin was performed by all choir groups at the end of the show.
The Fall concert is the first time that the vocal program has worked in unison this year.
With the performance marking the beginning of a successful year, vocal teacher for the middle school and high school, Sarah Pitts, expressed her hopes for the 2021-22 school year.
“I hope the vocal program as a whole, if nothing else, learns how to work together well this year,” Pitts said. “I always say that vocal is a team sport. We all have to give our best effort to accomplish anything.”
With the fall concert over, the Marlow vocal program plans to begin preparing for their Christmas concert that will take place on December 10, 2021.
