Sophomores visit RRTC
The Marlow High School sophomores visited the Red River Technology Center (RRTC) on Wednesday, Sept. 29 to learn about the various courses available to them starting their junior year.
There are thirteen courses available at RRTC including Auto Collision, Auto Service, Business Information Technology, Cosmetology, Computer Aided Drafting, Emergency Medical Services (EMS), Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC), Electronics, Health Careers, Biomedical Science Academy, Precision Machining (CNC), Welding and Metal Fabrication and the Pre-Engineering Academy.
Many MHS students attend the Red River Technology Center including senior Nate Cain who has been attending the Tech Center since his junior year of high school.
“I chose to attend the Tech Center because I wanted to challenge myself and go deeper into topics surrounding the medical field,” Cain stated.
The Red River Tech Center has many benefits for its attendees.
These benefits may include a head start in his or her career or a chance to get noticed by potential employers through the center’s beneficial hands-on learning style.
Junior Daylee Russell recently began attending the Tech Center’s Cosmetology course.
“Attending the Tech Center can help me have a better chance to get a job at a salon,” Russell expressed. “I also learn valuable skills such as how to attract and retain clients.”
Red River Tech Center Counselor Jamie Conway guides students through their time at the Tech Center.
“Our students get a chance to learn the hands-on portion of their career path,” Conway said. “Our students gain information in a textbook, and they get to apply their skills in a lab. Students in our programs can get high wage jobs or further their education in college, and some do both at the same time,”
With many courses to choose from, the students of Marlow High School will continue to teach students about available secondary schools to help students succeed.
