Kizarr runs through senior year

Running towards the finish line of her high school career, senior Korie Kizarr has strived to be the best cross country runner she can be.

Kizarr has been involved in Marlow cross country for five years, having joined in seventh grade to keep up the hobby she shared with her father.

During her time on the Marlow cross country team, Kizarr has acquired a list of achievements that makes her stand out as an athlete.

“My biggest accomplishment has to be all-stating all three years I have been to state,” Kizarr stated.

In 2018 as a freshman, Kizarr placed eighth at state, running 12:46.6 in the 3200 meter race; in 2019, she placed third, running the race in 12:26.37, and in 2020 she placed third again, running a 12:27.26.

Bringing countless qualities to the team, Kizarr has influenced many of her friends and teammates.

Junior Karsynn Kelly has been a friend of Kizarr since birth, and she described the inspiration Kizarr has brought to her life.

“She has influenced me by showing me to always try my best in everything I do,” Kelly said.

Creating a name for herself amongst her teammates as being hard-working and inspiring, Kizarr is also a leader who is passionate about her classmates’ success.

Kizarr shared her advice for the underclassmen on the team.

“I would advise underclassmen to always give 110%  in practice,” Kizarr explained. “It will definitely pay off in the future.”

Senior Dara Hunt has been friends with Kizarr since Hunt moved to Marlow in seventh grade and has played basketball alongside Kizarr for years.

Hunt explained how Kizarr has influenced her throughout their years of friendship.

“Her work ethic is really inspiring,” Hunt said. “She knows how to keep me going when I’m playing in a bad game or anything we do together.”

After high school Kizarr plans to attend college, to run cross country.
