Working her way into the field of journalism, senior Chloe Brooks has discovered her future career path and has built up her career-portfolio throughout her involvement in Marlow High School’s journalism class.

As a high school sophomore, Brooks became a staff member for the MHS exPRESS and she began focusing on writing sports stories.

Receiving the title of Sports Editor her junior year, Brooks described why she feels her title is fitting to the class.

“I can help assist those that are writing sports stories and help them understand what they are writing,” said Brooks. “ I love sports, and I love to be a leader and an outlet to those that need help.”

Watching Brooks develop in her skills throughout the years, journalism adviser Haley Wilson described the potential she sees in Brooks.

“Chloe has shown a great work ethic and a willingness to ask questions and get out into the community to go to all the sporting events and really grow in her passion for what she writes about.”

Seeing the leader in Brooks, senior and Editor-in-Chief Skylar Schnedorf described the impact Brooks has on the entire Journalism staff.

“She’s always taking initiative and reminding people to stay on task,” said Schnedorf.  “She stays on top of everything, and I think she tries to make journalism a good environment that is welcoming for everyone.”

Writing alongside Brooks throughout the years, senior and Co-Editor-in-Chief, Kearsten Ball described what she sees in Brooks’ work.

“I can see Chloe’s passion for sports stories because she always wants to cover our high school sports,” said Ball. “I think Chloe being Sports Editor is fitting for her because it’s something she wants to pursue as a career.”

With her future already written out ahead of her, Brooks will attend the University of Oklahoma to major in journalism with an emphasis on sports journalism.
