Aiming to look deeper while keeping some pep in her step, senior Courtney Cramton has used her cheerleading abilities to keep her motivated throughout her long, last year of high school.
Cramton is involved with many things at Marlow High School, but one of her favorite activities became being a part of the Marlow cheerleading team.
Cramton tried out for the cheerleading team her junior year, ending with major success and a spot on the team.
Cramton commented on how even though she hadn’t been a part of the team long, she felt very welcomed and became a part of the family very quickly.
“I haven’t been in cheer for that long,” Cramton said. “Despite that, I feel like I’ve been a part of the team for a very long time.”
Emily Anderson, an MHS senior, shared how she believes cheer brought her and Cramton closer together, as well as strengthening them individually.
“Courtney is one of my best friends. We decided to try out together to see what would happen,” Anderson said. “I don’t think either of us expected for cheer to impact us as much as it did, especially not in so many ways.”
Anderson and Cramton both agreed that although they did not think cheer would impact them, it surprised them by doing just that.
“I figured that with hard practices and being around so many people, I would end up getting sick of it,” Cramton said. “It definitely proved me wrong. I looked forward to cheering after about a week. It is probably something that I will miss most about Marlow and high school.”
Cheerleading coach Kim-Hee Davis elaborated on how she sees Cramton as a very hard worker that will be able to carry herself very far.
“Courtney spent a lot of time in my room after school working on signs, cheers, and helping others,” Davis said. “She is a very hard worker, and I believe she will be successful in whatever she chooses to do because of her selflessness and her ability to work!”
Cramton will be attending Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma, to become a radiologist. She will begin classes in the fall of 2017.
