One Marlow has high sights set on the development of new, interactive technologies.
Senior Trevor Roe has been fascinated with video games since he began playing “Call of Duty”, but it was the release of “Skyrim” that sparked his obsession with interactive media.
Junior Katie Galvan said that Roe is very passionate about his interests.
“He plays so many video games,” Galvan said. “However, he is a very hard worker and he gets stuff done.”
His latest interest is virtual reality (VR) where the game can be seen in first-person perspective through goggles.
“I currently have Google Cardboard which is the cheapest VR you can get,” Roe said. “It basically just tracks movement.”
He explained that his eventual goal is to have a computer with a VR.
“It is just such a cool thing,” Roe said.
Roe explained that playing video games is his way of communicating with other people.
“Instead of going to parties, I go to XBOX parties to chat with people,” Roe said. “You can play games and hang out. I have been friends with fellow gamers since 2010.”
Algebra II teacher Karen Brantley said that Roe was an amazing student.
“I enjoyed having him in class,” Brantley said. “He is very intelligent and an all-in-all hard worker.”
Roe’s infatuation with video games has influenced the path he plans to take after graduation.
He plans to attend University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond to get his bachelor’s degree and then transfer to Oklahoma State University in Stillwater to obtain a master’s degree in computer hardware engineering.
“My ultimate goal with that degree is to help improve graphics cards,” Roe said. “I would like to maybe work in a factory and make sure that the parts are right to improve prototypes.”
