Conflict of interest

Hillary Clinton

Donald Trump

This coming November, Americans will have a choice of two candidates that will lead the ever growing nation.

However, for many this is a choice between the lesser of two evils.

On one side, there is Donald Trump, who has proven himself to be quite the mascot for people with a large ego and lack of sanity.

Then on the democratic side, we have Hillary Clinton, who is no stranger to comments of

corruption and misconduct.

Let us start with Donald Trump, the New York businessman whose comments have offended many and have brought the country into a new age of racial tension.

He has insulted immigrants by calling them rapists and murderers and has stated that he was going to have a large wall built on the southern border between the U.S. and Mexico to keep illegal immigrants out.

Like many Americans, I understand that keeping our border safe is imperative for the well-being and security of the nation; however, a public official like the one Trump wants to be should not use childish insults to help get his point across. He should act like an adult and think of better tactics to make him appear more mature and appealing.

Lastly, let us talk about Hillary Clinton, whose public image has taken a downward spiral since this election started.

This is not Clinton’s first time running for President of the United States. After her 2008 primary defeat against Barack Obama, she then became Secretary of State under his administration. Since then, she has dealt with a war in Libya, an attack on the American Embassy in Benghazi and an email scandal that has put her ability to deal with classified information into question. Both of these candidates have, at many times, changed their stance on many issues, both foreign and domestic.

According to the website Politifact, both candidates have a history of either changing their stance on an issue, or just not discussing it at all.

Back in 2002, when there was talk of a war starting in Iraq; Donald Trump was on record saying that he was for the war.

Today, however, he says that he was totally against it, and that it was a giant mistake that should not have been done.

Hillary Clinton also made the mistake of voting for the war as a Senator, but she now says that her vote was a mistake – Something that Trump has a hard time admitting.

I do think that one candidate is slightly better than the other, but only by a very slim margin. Both of them think that they are somehow above the rest and have all the answers to the nation’s problems while they proceed to throw out insults.

This is something that makes the United States look bad on an international scale and has the potential to ruin the reputation that the nation has built for itself.

I just wish this election cycle could be quick and painless for the sake of all Americans.
