Warren taking softball to next level on full scholarship
For senior Abbey Warren, softball has been her passion since she was four years old, and as a result of her dedication to the sport, softball will also be a big part of her future.
Warren recently signed a letter of intent to play softball at Cameron University and has been given a full scholarship to do so.
Warren said being close to her family is another important part of choosing Cameron.
“I was excited to sign with Cameron because I will be close to home,” Warren said.
Warren started playing t-ball around age four on Bobby Shannon and her father Mark’s team, and she only improved from there.
Varsity coach Brian Miller said that Warren is a naturally talented player, and her work ethic is the reason for the level of her play.
“Abbey is lucky enough to be blessed with talent, but you don’t get far without putting in the time to develop that talent. She has made herself a great player by not accepting to be average. She has worked hard to get where she is.”

Warren has traveled from one end of the country to the other to play softball, but her favorite place was Panama City, Florida, where she played in a national tournament.
“It was absolutely gorgeous,” Warren said, “I could live there.”
Fellow softball player senior Gigi Wall said Warren brings more to the game than her skill as a player.
“She is a great hitter and fielder, but she is also a good leader, and that is important for team morale. She tries to keep players fired up even though she is too hard on herself sometimes,” Wall said.
Warren is the daughter of Mark and Angelia Warren.
