Students fall into fashion

With school back in session, everyone is eager to show off the latest fashion trends. Even in the heat of August, jeans and white Converse All-Stars seem to be popular among the students of Marlow High School.

These jeans can range from traditional denim to printed or skinny and can be worn in various ways. Some students prefer to wear them rolled up with sandals, or unrolled with sneakers or any other type of style or type of shoe.

Sophomore Olivia Williams is someone who tries to make a conscious effort to look nice.

“I like to dress up because it makes me feel good about myself,” Williams said.

Special education and English I teacher, Lisa Branum also thinks what you wear can influence your self-image.

“I think students should dress in what makes them feel confident in themselves rather than trying to impress other people. I think confidence is more important than high fashion.”

Dyed hair is also popular this school year. This color choice can range from simple highlights to rainbow coloring of entire heads or just anything that is other than natural hair.

Some other fashions circulating in the halls are sandals such as Birkenstocks and Chacos, round glasses, also known as cat-eye glasses, and tank-tops for guys.

Though guys are not always considered “fashion gurus,” many guys still like to look nice around school. One of these guys is freshman Tanner Laden.

His reason: “to impress my girlfriend.”

Whether the preference is fall apparel in the heat of August, in-style footwear or colorful hair, students can always make their own fashion statement.
