Coaching is Cara’s choice
Senior Cara Williams has decided to use her time on stage and competing with the Marlow Outlaw Speech Team (M.O.S.T.) to pursue a very dramatic career choice.
Williams is a three-year member of M.O.S.T. and a one year member of the stagecraft class and says she has always wanted to be an actor.
“My favorite part of speech is competing in tournaments. I love the acting events because I get to be someone else,” Williams said.
Cara qualified for the state speech tournament as a freshman and sophomore, and during her sophomore year she received state runner-up in prose.
Williams has set an even higher goal for herself as a senior.
“This year I’m practicing more than I ever have. My goal is to be state champion in poetry,” Williams said.
Speech coach Paula McConnell said Williams has come a long way during her four years in drama.
“Cara has developed so much from being a very quiet freshman to a senior who is positive in her leadership. I am thrilled that she wants to pursue a career in drama,” McConnell said.
Senior Sam Kimbrough said that Williams was well cut out for the field.
“Cara is a really great actress. It’s always fun to work with her on stage. I believe that she will make an excellent speech coach one day,” Kimbrough said.
Williams plans to attend the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond to pursue a degree in theater/speech education.
Cara is the daughter of Robert and Jean Williams.
