FFA is senior’s passion
Kylie Sellers shows not only dedication to excellence in her leadership as president of the Marlow chapter of FFA, but also demonstrates a willingness to work hard and be an active student as well.
Sellers has been an FFA member for five years.
“It truly amazes me how much she can get done with everything she is involved in. She is not only passionate about what she does but is compassionate toward others as well,” FFA adviser Derek Mitchell said.
Sellers joined FFA in the eighth grade and said that it seemed like the most natural thing to do.
“I became involved because I was raised on a farm, but I had no idea what the organization had to offer. There’s so much leadership involved. FFA is what broke me out of my shell,” Sellers said.
Kylie has shown pigs for all five years she has been a part of the organization.
“Showing livestock is how I’ve gotten so close to so many of the friends that I now have. It has also taught me responsibility and time management,” Sellers said.
“I love having Kylie as a president. She works really hard for our chapter,” junior reporter, Brynna Mefford said.
Sellers hopes to become a state FFA officer candidate in the spring. This is a lengthy process that requires taking a written test, having a majority of her local chapter’s approval and interviewing before a panel of judges.
“If you would have told me five years ago that I would get up and speak in front of a room full of people, I definitely would have laughed. Now I can comfortably speak in front of a crowd and not be the least bit worried,” Sellers said.
