Student of the week is self-proclaimed ‘tomboy’
She has blonde hair and blue eyes, but she certainly is no Barbie. This year’s first Student of the week, Anne Wortham, is a self-proclaimed “tomboy.”
“With two brothers, a dad as a coach and a mom who is constantly traveling, I spent many hours at the football field, and I am constantly surrounded by guys,” Wortham said.
In keeping with tradition, the student council president represented Marlow at the Lion’s Club luncheon meeting on Wednesday, August 21.
In addition to serving as president of her local council, Wortham also holds the title as student council District III president.
Her outstanding leadership qualities are just a few of the things that set her apart from her fellow classmates at Marlow High School.
“I am very excited to have Anne’ as our president this year. She loves this school and is always working to make it a better place,” student council adviser Ann Field said.
Wortham shows her leadership qualities, as well as school spirit, by holding the title of cheer captain for her cheer squad.
“Anne’ always shows up to practice with a smile on her face. Her positive attitude is contagious, and she is always willing to go above and beyond for her team,” cheer coach Cassie Archer said.
Anne’ also holds the role as head photographer for the MHS exPRESS, but she gets most of her photography practice from taking “selfies” on her friend’s phones.
“Every time I look at my phone, I will have at least 20 new pictures of Anne’,” senior Hunter Scalf, a close friend of Wortham’s said.
Wortham plans on applying to Oklahoma State University to pursue a degree in the medical field, with the hopes of becoming a chiropractor.
Anne’ is the daughter of Bobby and Robin Wortham.
